The conflict in Sudan has reached catastrophic levels, leaving millions of families—especially women and children—without food, shelter, or safety.
Since hostilities broke out on April 15, 2023, the situation in Sudan has rapidly deteriorated.
The brunt of this crisis is borne by the most vulnerable, in particular women and children.
2.9 million children are already acutely malnourished, with 729,000 children under five suffering from severe acute malnutrition, the deadliest form of hunger.
Women and girls are at increased risk of gender-based violence, including sexual violence, as they struggle to access food and resources. They are often forced to make impossible choices between starvation and safety and reports indicate that women and girls are resorting to survival sex to access food.
